More than $17 Million Likely to be Paid to Documentaries
Screenrights is currently making first payments of 2010 royalties to rightsholders, with documentaries likely to be allocated more than $17.6 million in payments.
Member Services Executive Emma Rogers said documentaries usually received a significant proportion of the total royalties collected from educational institutions. During 2009/2010 close to a third of all copied programs were documentaries.
“This money can be a significant source of income, and it’s important for documentary makers to remember to update their title registrations with us on a regular basis,” Ms Rogers said. “We want to make sure that any money we collect is paid to the rightsholders as quickly as possible, and having updated information helps enormously.”
To find out more, visit www.screenrights.org or talk to Annabel Holt from Member Services during AIDC.

A Tribute to the Life and Work of Tony Wilson
Tony Wilson, a much respected and loved cinematographer, died suddenly last month leaving the documentary industry in shock.
AIDC are holding a tribute to Tony's work and contribution to the industry as a cinematographer, teacher, mentor, colleague and friend. He will be greatly missed.
If you have stories, anecdotes and most importantly clips of Tony's work, please contact us as we are curating a session which will screen examples of Tony's work, hopefully show Tony in action and remember his humour, warmth and talent.
Mitzi Goldman will moderate this session and would like to hear from you if you have a story and film to share.
